In times of need and times of fun, Carpenter’s small groups are your source of friendship and support.  They are your key to developing connections with those who share your interests or people who are dealing with similar issues.

Small groups are an opportunity to reach out to others, while growing in your walk with the Lord.  Groups meet once a week in homes, businesses, restaurants, or other locations around town.  The groups change and begin again two times a year, so you have the opportunity to try out different ones.  You’ll never fully experience all that The Carpenter’s Church has to offer until you connect in a small group!

The Purpose of Small Groups

Small groups at Carpenter’s provides a safe place where people can share their lives together, pray together, explore the Bible practically, develop their spiritual gifts, serve one another and our mission partners, develop new leaders and birth new groups.

In a nutshell… ‘A Safe Place To Grow’

Our Purposes:

1. A Place to Connect

“…yes, whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.”  1 Corinthians 9:22 (LB)

Small groups is the best way for you to get to know other people who share your interests, are at the same stage of life you are at, and develop life-long friendships.

2. A Place to Protect

“We know what real love is because Christ gave up His life for us. And so we also ought to give up our lives for our Christian brothers and sisters.”  1 John 3:16 NLT

At the heart of a healthy group is a commitment to be responsible to and for one another. Many times in the New Testament we are instructed to love one another, encourage one another, bear each others burdens etc. We can only do this effectively in the context of a small group. God never meant us to go it alone. We really do need each other.

3. A Place to Grow

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”  Proverbs 27:17

In a small group setting you can ask questions, participate in discussion, and hear others share insights and illustrations of the truth you are trying to grasp. The Bible must be applied to your own personal situations. Real measurable growth in people happens best in small groups.

The Bible teaches that every believer is given certain talents or ‘gifts’ to benefit others in the family of God. Unfortunately most Christians remain as Sunday morning spectators all their lives because large group meetings are primarily ‘sit and listen’ situations. A small group will give you opportunity (when you are ready) to explore and exercise your gifts in a supportive and non-threatening environment.

4. A Place to Serve

“Faith without works is dead.” James 2:17

Groups are encouraged to regularly seek to consider ways they can practically and prayerfully serve the wider church and community as well as actively support our mission partners.

How to get plugged in to a small group

There are a variety of groups and locations to meet your needs. If you want to join a group or find out more information, here are some options for you:

1. Contact the leader of the group of your interest.

2. You may already know some people attending a group and wish to accompany them.

3. Contact one of the greeters before a Sunday morning meeting.

We are excited about the incredible potential of the network of small groups within The Carpenter’s Church. Small groups have many benefits that no believer can afford to miss. If you are not already participating in a small group, why not join one this week.
